Veterinarian Technician Education
Courses (VTEC) offers specialized in-hospital training for
the entire staff. Our programs are designed to increase
knowledge and understanding of the veterinary team so each
employee can become a more integral part of the hospital,
become a better resource to the veterinarian, clients and
patients, and increase the productivity and effectiveness of
the hospital. VTEC also aims to give hospital team members
the opportunity to refine and excel in their field, and
allow the veterinarian to focus on medicine and care of the
patient. VTEC offers in hospital full staff training
specialized to the needs of each hospital team. Programs can
range from 4-8 hours in each of the following topics:
Triage, Emergency Care and
CPR: The program goal is to have team members identify
an emergency situation, be prepared for the needs of the
veterinarian, be able to obtain an effective
medical history, and discuss concerns with a client during a
medical emergency. The program would consist of a 4-5 hour
lecture and wet lab program. The program covers:
Lecture 1 - Elements of how to obtain a Thorough
Medical History

The care and treatment of chronically ill pets affected by
cardiac, renal, hepatic and hormonal diseases impacts
general practice, specialty and emergency practice hospitals
on a daily basis. It is essential that the medical team have
medical and monitoring protocols to anesthetize these pets.
Because of newer technologies, anesthetics, and monitoring
modalities; the medical team can be more effective in the
anesthetic care of the chronically ill patient. The program
covers:
Lecture I: Evaluating and Anesthetizing the Cardiac
Patient
Lecture II: Evaluating and Anesthetizing the Renal &
Liver Patient
Lecture III: Handling the Anesthetic Emergency
Anesthesia Wet Lab: The wet lab will focus on proper
induction, monitoring and evaluation of the anesthetized
chronically ill patient. Also focusing on important clinical
diagnostic (i.e. blood gases, pulse ox, blood pressure) and
advanced anesthetic techniques (i.e. ventilation…).
Specialized Seminars are also available for specific needs of
